Oktoberfest and 11th Annual Yvette M. Palmer Race to ZERO Purple Pinkie 5K Run & 1+ Mile Fun Walk/Run, 10-Mile Bike Ride

October 2, 2021  LEHIGH VALLEY, PA – For the first time, the annual Race to ZERO Rotary event for District 7430 will also offer an Oktoberfest concurrently on the same grounds, as Rotary clubs in the district race to end polio throughout the world. With only two countries left, Afghanistan and Pakistan, that still have outbreaks of the poliomyelitis virus, commonly known as polio, the end is within reach.

Due to Covid-19, last year’s race was virtual, yet still managed to raise $40,000. This year’s goal is to beat that number and raise $50,000.

Oktoberfest will offer traditional foods, beer, wine, and other drinks, as well as a live and, a selfie booth, and other Bier garden activities.

The run will have some different options, as the course is on the Schnecksville Fair Grounds in Schnecksville. The course runs down Old Pakhouse Road, across a covered bridge, and back up the hill. A virtual option is also available.

Costs to register are $60 for adults over 21 years to participate in both events; $40 for adults over 21 for the Octoberfest only.

$35 ($25 if under 18) for day 5k, 1 mile and 10-mile bike of and late registration (register at give.purplepinkie.net with a credit card)

Other registration fees are listed on the website: www.purplepinkie.net

Registration opens at 8:00 am
