ALLENTOWN, PA – Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center will welcome legendary HIV/AIDS activist Peter Staley for a community conversation with center executive director Adrian Shanker.

Staley is on a national book tour following the recent release of his highly-anticipated memoir “Never Silent.”

Staley was an early leader in HIV-led direct action organizations, including ACT UP New York and Treatment Action Group, which he founded. Staley also founded Prep4All. He is featured in the 2012 Emmy-nominated documentary “How to Survive a Plague.”

Staley will speak in conversation with Adrian Shanker, who in addition to his leadership at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, serves as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS in the Biden-Harris administration.

“Never Silent” details Staley’s life in activism and includes a foreword from Anderson Cooper. About this book, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said, “For decades, Peter Staley’s name has been synonymous with brave, determined activism on behalf of the LGBTQ community. Now, for the first time, he’s telling the story of his journey from closeted Wall Street bond trader to political powerhouse. Whether you’re looking for a front-row seat to history, a greater understanding of how change happens in America, or simply a book that’s so candid, funny, and inspiring you won’t be able to put it down, Never Silent is a timely must-read.”

The event is free and open to the public. Masks will be required, regardless of vaccination status.
