The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts Production Arts Department to present “Little Shop of Horrors” March 17-20, 2022

BETHLEHEM, PA– The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) Production Arts Department will present Little Shop of Horrors (Broadway Version), March 17-20, 2022, Book & Lyrics by Howard Ashman, Music by Alan Menken, Based on the film by Roger Corman, Screenplay by Charles Griffith.  Originally produced by the WPA Theatre (Kyle Renick, Producing Director).

One of the longest running off-Broadway shows, Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of floral assistant Seymour Krelborn and his discovery of an out-of-this-world plant, Audrey II, who lures Krelborn in with promises of fame and fortune if he continues to feed him blood.  When Seymour finally sees Audrey II as the manipulative mastermind that he is, the ultimate sacrifice has already been made, and the result is global domination.

Director, Rae Labadie shares, “We live in a world where we must constantly navigate information against sources and opinions against morals. Little Shop of Horrors is a comedically cautionary tale about the dangers of the captivating spread of misinformation, our societal expectations of the status quo, and our individual desires to find ‘somewhere that’s green’.”

Little Shop of Horrors (Broadway Version) is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).  All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.  www.mtishows.com

Evening performances will be held March 17-19 at 7 PM and matinee performances will be held March 19 & 20 at 2 PM.  Tickets are $10-$15 and are available for purchase online at www.CharterArts.org.

ABOUT THE CHARTER ARTS PRODUCTION ARTS DEPARTMENT:

Production Arts majors at Charter Arts utilize, develop, and apply their creative skills in a variety of practical applications and contexts. Students explore visual storytelling through the study, design, and construction of sets, costumes, makeup and special effects, props, lighting, projection, and sound. Collaboration is paramount, and students in this major gain hands-on experience supporting the artistic events and programming for all majors at Charter Arts. This major allows students to explore career options in the field, which may include: stage, house, and arts management, design, and technology.
