Mackenzie’s Fall Shredder Event Set for Oct. 1

MACUNGIE – In his continuing effort to help residents battle identity theft, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Berks/Lehigh) will be co-hosting a public paper shredder event on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Lower Macungie Township Complex, located at 3400 Brookside Road in Macungie. The township joins Mackenzie in hosting the event.

“My staff and I are pleased we can once again provide this shredding service to residents, along with our partner, Lower Macungie Township,” said Mackenzie. “This free event has proven to be popular as folks take advantage of the opportunity to safely dispose of sensitive documents and protect themselves from scammers.”

Residents are invited to bring up to four boxes of paperwork, the approximate size of carry-on luggage, per vehicle for shredding. There is no need to remove staples or paper clips, but documents should be taken out of binders and notebooks. Attendees are asked to remain in their vehicles while staff and volunteers unload the documents to be shredded.

Because this event is meant for documents containing sensitive, identifying information, it is requested that residents not bring items which do not fit this description as these can be thrown out or recycled at home.

This event is for residents only – businesses are kindly asked to dispose of their sensitive documents on their own. Due to the popularity of these events, no boxes will be accepted prior to the start time.

For more information on the event, call Mackenzie’s office at 610-965-9933.
