ArtsQuest to host Victoria Price and Garrett Brown at Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas

BETHLEHEM, Pa. –  Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas (FBAC) will host a cinema innovator and horror film icon heiress for two unique events at the SteelStacks campus. Victoria Price – daughter of legendary actor Vincent Price –  will host a Q&A on October 8 following a screening of The Masque of the Red Death. The following week, on October 13, FBAC will host an evening with Oscar-winner Garrett Brown, inventor of the Steadicam. Tickets are now on sale at steelstacks.org/film or by calling the ArtsQuest Box Office at 610-332-3378.

Victoria Price will attend a Saturday screening of The Masque of the Red Deathat 8 p.m. on October 8. Written in 1842 by Edgar Allen Poe after the death of his wife, mother and brother, the story follows Prince Prospero as he takes refuge in his castle to escape the “Red Death” plague. Prospero and his court are indifferent to the sufferings of the public until the sickness seeps through the heavy doors during his masquerade ball. The 1964 film adaptation stars Vincent Price, Jane Asher, Hazel Court and David Weston. Following the screening Victoria will host a Q&A discussion. She is an author, inspirational speaker, blogger and TedX speaker. Price authored the critically acclaimed Vincent Price: A Daughter’s Biography, The Way of Being Lost: A Road Trip to My Truest Self and her lates offering, Living Love: 12 Heart-Centered Practices to Transform Your Life.

On Thursday, Oct. 13 FBAC will host Film Appreciation Seminar: An Evening with Steadicam Inventor Garrett Brown at 7 p.m. The cinematic innovator will discuss the inception and use of the Oscar-winning Steadicam stabilizer used in more than 100 films including Rocky, Marathon Man, The Shining and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The film technique brings the viewer to the center of the action – à la the horrify Overlook Hotel hallway in The Shining. Brown’s Skycam, Mobycam and Divecam have been used to film countless athletes and athletic events. In 2009 his invention led to his induction into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame. Brown was also inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2013. A Philadelphia resident, Garrett travels extensively to teach Camera and inventing workshops and seminars world-wide.

Tickets can be reserved at steelstacks.org/film or by calling the ArtsQuest Box Office at 610-332-3378.

ArtsQuest’s Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas (FBAC) is a two-screen independent cinema located within the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. The FBAC is currently open for both public screenings and private rentals; more information on both can be found at steelstacks.org/film.
