Help build a youth’s potential by mentoring through sports. Mentors meet once a month for 9 months with their mentee. All activities are organized and facilitated by Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley. There is no cost to participate. In the spirit of National Trails Day join the DLNHC and Lehigh Gorge State Park to clean up Locks 28 and 29 along the D&L Trail in White Haven 9 a.m. to noon on June 3rd. It is roughly a quarter mile round trip walk to Lock 29 and just shy of a half mile round trip walk to Lock 28. Minimum age 16 or 4 with adult. Colonial Foodways volunteers engage visitors with the history of Burnside Plantation through live cooking demonstrations in the summer kitchen. Volunteers will demonstrate open hearth cooking practices and recreate 18th and early 19th century recipes in period attire and answer visitor questions about early cooking and life on a colonial-era farm.
