We’d like to invite the Easton community for a day of connecting and reconnecting to help engage the West Ward Community and the greater Easton community with the Easton Cemetery as a place to enjoy for recreation, relaxation, history, nature and art. We are also hoping to do a little fundraising to be able to continue public programming and educational resources for the community.

Established in 1849, Easton Cemetery (which also incorporates Easton Heights established in 1891), is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the permanent residence of over 42,500 individuals within its 86 acres. The world faces unprecedented challenges. As the death care industry paradigm shifts from higher burial revenues to lower revenue from cremations, many historic cemeteries find themselves struggling financially. Easton Cemetery is no different.

Fundraisers such as the Green Traill 5K and monetary donations received at public events like Community Day help us to continue programming such as the self-guided tour booklets, educational programming like the 4th Grade field trips and our grave gardener program.

Community Day Event information:

Activities include cemetery tours, in both English and Spanish, grave gardening tours, creation station, and a scavenger hunt for all ages (and dogs!). Local organizations including the West Ward Community Initiative, Easton Garden Works, The Nature Nurture Center, the Lafayette and Easton Libraries, Family Connection and The Valley Om will offer a variety of additional activities. Learn more about pet adoption with Center for Animal Health and Welfare, and snack on some goodies from Big Papa’s Food Truck, The Nice Slice and Sunnies Bake Shoppe. Bring a picnic blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy music from Fictional Name. Begin Community Day early at 10:00 am for  gentle yoga and movement with Brent Mackzo of The Valley Om.
