Members of the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) sophomore Communications and Media Studies Class held a press conference on May 22, 2024 to announce their Musikfest concert block happening on August 4th at the festival’s Plaza Tropical stage.  The students produced the block as part of a class project with ArtsQuest’s Musikfest Marketing program.

Since February, through instruction with ArtsQuest’s Chief Programming Officer, Patrick Brogan and his team, students have learned many valuable skills that are required to produce a major music festival such as Musikfest. They were then tasked with booking four acts for a concert block at the festival. The students have been responsible for reviewing band/artist submissions, booking artists, marketing, public relations, managing a budget, procuring sponsorship, creating design elements for promotions, and producing show elements.

Brogan shared at the conference: ” We’ve been proud to partner with Charter Arts since 2016 on Marketing Musikfest. The class engaged students in real life business and literary skills such as communication, negotiation, budgeting, meeting timelines, and flexibility.”

He added: “Musikfest is a festival of discovery. While the main stage attracts a lot of attention for the big names, the best part of the festival is when you turn a corner and unexpectedly come across a sound that engages you and becomes your next favorite band. These students bring such a diverse perspective to the festivals. And the more people programming it, the more diverse it becomes. That’s the beauty of Musikfest – a true community festival. Thank you for helping to create that magic with this lineup this year.”

The four bands that the students selected for their program on August 4th from 12-4 PM are: Honey Wild from Fort Lee, NJ; Brendan Brisk Band from Wilkes-Barre, PA: Powder Valley Band from Allentown, PA and Wynton Existing from Clarksville, TN.
