BETHLEHEM, PA (June 13, 2024) – Valley Youth House expresses its gratitude to the companies and individuals who supported the 39th annual John E. Walson, Jr. Memorial Golf & Pickleball Tournament, presented by Service Electric Cable TV & Communications. Thanks to the generous contributions from its supporters, Valley Youth House raised a record breaking $428,000 in financial and gift-in-kind support to enhance its life-saving programs, which have been assisting vulnerable youth and families in Pennsylvania communities since 1973.

Participants showcased their golf skills on the beautiful Lehigh Country Club course, and engaged in fast-paced, exciting games of pickleball, sponsored by CAI.

Proceeds from this special event will directly support Valley Youth House’s life-saving programs, enabling the organization to continue offering essential services such as life-skills training, emergency shelter, LGBTQ+ support, street outreach, and therapeutic treatment.

This year’s tournament was chaired by Tom Ike, Executive Vice President of Lutron Electronics Co, Inc. who remarked that, “Supporting this event is not just about playing a round of golf; it’s about making a real difference in the lives of young people in our community. This year, we’re thrilled to have broken records with the amount of donations raised, showing just how committed we all are to giving these youth a brighter future. It’s an incredible feeling to see the generosity and dedication from everyone involved.”

“The proceeds from this event support young people in our community who are facing issues of homelessness and family separation,” said Tom Harrington, President and Executive Director of Valley Youth House. “We’ve seen the resilience of so many youth who respond positively to the help we provide. We appreciate the generosity of our business community that allows us to continue to provide housing, food, counseling and employment support for thousands of local youth.”
