Habitat Lehigh Valley Hosts Second Annual Astound & Habitat for Humanity International for Home is the Key Build Day
Wednesday, April 23, 2025 – South Bethlehem, PA – Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley is pleased to host the second annual volunteer-driven build day in support of Fair Housing Month, a month which commemorates the passing of the landmark 1968 Fair Housing Act. Team members from both Astound and Habitat for Humanity International will once again be swinging hammers and raising walls together…building homes, but also building dreams and opportunity. This year marks the second year Habitat Lehigh Valley has been chosen to partner with HfHI and Astound.
This partnership at the national level with Astound and Habitat for Humanity International continues to support various Habitat affiliates across the United States as they work together to break down the barriers of unaffordable housing and continue to build communities of hope. Habitat for Humanity builds strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter and believes in a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Founded in 1989, Habitat Lehigh Valley has dedicated 140 homes in the past 36 years and is incredibly grateful for the support from Astound as they continue to build the remaining two homes in South Bethlehem on Philip Street. Too often, low to moderate income families are forced to choose between putting food on the table or paying rent in the Lehigh Valley, as the affordable housing crisis continues to affect hardworking, local families. The affordable housing crisis severely and disproportionately affects the most vulnerable communities – single mothers, the elderly, Veterans, individuals with disabilities, and people of color. Habitat for Humanity International, Astound, and Habitat Lehigh Valley work tirelessly to battle these inequities.
Habitat for Humanity’s Home is the Key campaign strongly focuses on raising funds to afford more families the access to equitable housing and building more inclusive communities throughout the United States and the rest of the world.
Without such campaigns, both Habitat for Humanity and the local affiliate here in the Lehigh Valley would not be able to do the important work they do every day. Astound’s commitment to this mission is a testament to their community-focused philosophy that will empower many Habitat Lehigh Valley homeowners for years to come.
