UnidosUS Action Fund Announces ‘Advancing Unidos’ Press Conference and Community Townhall

ALLENTOWN, PA – [April 30, 2025] – On Monday, May 5, UnidosUS Action Fund, in collaboration with Unidos Inc., La Mega, and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Lehigh Valley, will host a press conference and community town hall to address looming Medicaid cuts threatening hundreds of thousands of families in Pennsylvania. Latino leaders, elected officials, and advocates will be in attendance to offer solutions and answer questions. The event will take place at M Studios at ArtsWalk in Allentown, 21 N 7th St #3, Allentown, PA 18101.

“Our community is calling for an investment in health, education, and economic growth, not cuts that would rip away critical support. Pennsylvania families cannot afford to lose their healthcare lifeline,” said Rafael Collazo, Executive Director of UnidosUS Action Fund. “We are gathering in Allentown to stand up for our communities and demand a future built on opportunity, not broken promises.”

According to the latest data from Medicaid.gov, over 5.1 million people across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware are enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP—with Pennsylvania alone accounting for more than 3 million of those individuals. This highlights just how critical Medicaid is to the health and economic stability of families in the Lehigh Valley and the broader tri-state region, especially as potential cuts loom.

As Congress advances a plan to slash $880 billion from Medicaid, jeopardizing healthcare access for millions, UnidosUS Action Fund brings together civic leaders, advocates, and the community to sound the alarm. This press conference and community town hall will also highlight new polling that shows growing Latino dissatisfaction with the Trump presidency and broader concern over policies that harm working families.

Community organizations will be available on-site to offer voter registration assistance, healthcare enrollment guidance, and resources to support families navigating the upcoming healthcare changes.
