The Catalyst Debuts in Easton with Global Photo Exhibition and Live Music Celebration

Soft Opening on June 1 Showcases Alexander Khimushin’s “The World in Faces” and Performances by Gr3yson, Galen Deery, Nene O, Lovecartel, and More

[EASTON, PA – June 1, 2025] — The Catalyst, Easton’s newest event and coworking venue, will hold a soft-opening mixer on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the historic former Wells Fargo Bank building at 16 Centre Square, Easton, Pa 18042. The Catalyst, owned by mother-son team, Jane and Adam Kurtin, has been freshly renovated and repurposed to host unique events, including comedy nights, jazz shows, pop-up shop experiences, art galleries, and more.  In addition to live music, food and drinks, the soft-opening celebration will include a viewing of The World in Faces, an internationally acclaimed photo exhibition by Alexander Khimushin focusing on Indigenous Peoples and their traditional heritage, celebrating cultural diversity. Admission is free and open to the public.

A centerpiece of the soft opening is The World in Faces, a global photo project by Alexander Khimushin. Khimushin’s large-format portraits (each over six feet tall) depict indigenous and traditional peoples in full cultural attire, emphasizing the dignity and beauty of diverse cultures. The Catalyst will display 11 of these monumental prints, offering visitors an immersive experience. Khimushin’s work has been exhibited at the United Nations (New York and Geneva), UNESCO in Paris and the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, receiving international acclaim. Heavenly Host Hospitality, the organization hosting this installment at The Catalyst, is supporting the exhibit as part of its mission to empower artists and global community development. The World in Faces will remain on view at The Catalyst by appointment after the opening event, while sixteen additional prints from the project are available for sponsorship at future host venues.

“We are honored to bring The World in Faces to The Catalyst for its Easton debut,” said Brooke Mitman, founder of Heavenly Host Hospitality. “This breathtaking collection reminds us that every culture carries its own beauty, wisdom, and story, and that we are stronger when we celebrate those differences together. At HHH, our mission is to create spaces where art, community, and purpose intersect.  Adam and Jane’s vision for The Catalyst embodies that spirit.”

In addition to Khimushin’s exhibit, the mixer will include food and drink offerings in partnership with Presley’s Bar, plus an eclectic lineup of local music acts, celebrating Easton’s vibrant creative community. Performers include:

  • Gr3yson – Easton native Gr3yson opens the event at 1:00 PM with his unique blend of acoustic and electronic soundscapes.
  • Basil & Bob – A dynamic local acoustic duo known for their engaging performances and original songwriting.
  • Galen Deery & The Reason Why – Easton singer-songwriter Galen Deery and his full band blend folk, rock, and pop into an ethereal mix often described as “music on the wings of a hummingbird.”
  • Nene O Music – Philadelphia-area folk-rock artist Nene O (Nene Okigbo) performs emotionally rich storytelling songs; her EP Perpetual Epiphany and international gigs have garnered critical praise.
  • Lovecartel – A high-energy indie-rock band whose sound fuses alternative and experimental elements. Inspired by The National, Coldplay, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lovecartel “weaves together indie rock, alternative, and experimental sounds” into anthemic, emotionally charged music.
