Allentown, PA — U.S. Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, representing the Greater Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, is proud to announce that his office has successfully helped to secure over $7 million that had been owed to DeSales University through the COVID-era Employee Retention Credit. The University had applied for the ERC in January of 2024, but hadn’t received a meaningful update from the IRS for over a year. After being contacted by DeSales in February of 2025, the district staff of Congressman Mackenzie reached out to the IRS on their behalf and were able to help achieve a successful outcome.
“We’re always very happy when we’re able to solve problems and deliver on behalf of our constituents,” said Congressman Ryan Mackenzie. “Whether we’re assisting local residents or some of our region’s large institutions, our team throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley is here to help. After waiting over a year for a response from the IRS, DeSales contacted our office for assistance. That’s when our staff member, Rochelle, was able to get in touch with the IRS on their behalf and help DeSales get the answers and resources that they were counting on. We have a great team in our office, and I’m proud of the work that they’re doing for the people of the Greater Lehigh Valley each and every day. Congratulations to DeSales University on a successful outcome.”
“With help from Rep. Mackenzie’s office, DeSales was able to get an update from the IRS Taxpayer Advocate on the status of our Employee Retention Credit filing,” said DeSales University Spokeswoman Carolyn Steigleman. “Rochelle was very responsive and easy to work with. The update allowed us to prepare budget and cash flow projections with better accuracy and timeliness than would have otherwise been possible.”
Constituents of Congressman Mackenzie — whether individuals, businesses, or non-profits — are reminded that his office is available to provide assistance and guidance in navigating federal agencies. Those interested in more information can visit his website at Mackenzie.House.Gov.
