Allentown Rotary Club Celebrates $7,500 Grant Award to Boys and Girls Club of Allentown
Local service organization funds new furniture to enhance youth programming space
ALLENTOWN, PA – September 23, 2025 – The Allentown Rotary Club celebrated the impact of community partnership Monday afternoon with a special visit to the Boys and Girls Club of Allentown. The event marked the official ribbon cutting for new tables and chairs purchased through a $7,500 grant provided by the Rotary Club.
Five Rotarians attended the celebration, including longtime member Don, who has served the organization for over 38 years and was himself a Boys and Girls Club participant in his youth. The afternoon featured pizza, cake, and story time with the children, culminating in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new furniture.
“This is what Service Above Self looks like in action,” said Rosaria, Assistant District Governor for Rotary. “Seeing the kids’ excitement about their new furniture was priceless. These tables and chairs will provide a better space for homework, activities, and meals for years to come.”
The new furniture addresses a critical need at the Boys and Girls Club, which serves hundreds of local youth through after-school programming, educational support, and recreational activities. The upgraded seating and workspace will directly benefit children who rely on the club for a safe, supportive environment after school and during breaks.
Don’s presence at the event highlighted the long-term impact both organizations have on the Allentown community. His journey from Boys and Girls Club participant to decades-long Rotarian demonstrates the lasting influence these community partnerships can have on individual lives.
