VPCC announces 2016 Air Products, PeeWee Pedalers classes

TREXLERTOWN, Pa. –  Valley Preferred Cycling Center Executive Director Marty Nothstein announced Thursday morning the return of the 2016 Air Products Developmental Cycling Programs as well as PeeWee Pedalers, presented by Teva Respiratory, for the summer.

“Our community programs are so important to us here in T-town,” Nothstein said. “The expediential growth we have seen in the programs across the board over the last few years is exciting, everything from our PeeWee Pedaler programs to our bicycle racing league are running at all-time highs, and this would not be possible without the support of our fine partners, great coaches, and wonderful community.

The Air Products programs are offered for a variety of age groups and skill levels. Squirts and Weeble Wobbles, Youth Basic, Youth Advanced, Junior Basic/Advanced, and Adult Basic/Advanced, are all the classes being offered this summer at VPCC.

Erickson_USESquirts and Weeble Wobbles is a program designed to help kids ages 5-8 learn how to ride a bike without training wheels. Coaching this year’s classes is talented USA track cyclist, Missy Erickson. Erickson competed at the recent World Cycling League event in Los Angeles, is a member of the 2016 USA cycling Olympic Long Team, and is a World Cup medalist, amongst other impressive accolades.

“I’ve always loved my visits to T-town, but now that I am here as a full-time resident, when the opportunity came up to work with the youth programs I didn’t give it a second thought,” Erickson said. “There’s nothing greater than being able to give back to the community, as well as see the excitement and fire in a kids eye, while being able to mentor them in the sport of cycling.”

Erickson also is coaching the 2016 PeeWee Pedalers, presented by Teva Respiratory, sessions. These sessions are designed for kids ages 5-8 who already can ride a bike without the assistance of training wheels. This session helps riders refine their bicycle riding and safety skills.

All youth Air Products classes are free of charge, with equipment provided, except for Squirts and Weeble Wobbles. That class is $25 per registrant, and riders are to provide their own bicycle and helmet. PeeWee Pedalers is $40 per registrant and riders are to provide their own bicycle and helmet as well.

Class size is limited. To register, visit thevelodrome.com. For more information, please contact the Valley Preferred Cycling Center by calling 610-395-7000 or e-mailing info@thevelodrome.com.
