REFUSED AND DEFTONES IGNITE BETHLEHEM

Story & Photographs by Diane Fleischman

Filling the house Tuesday night at The Sands Event Center was the Refused and the Deftones.  These two bands were made to be out touring on the road together.  Each band brought the metal, and offered two different genres of music.

Refused opened the show.  Originally from Sweden, they are a hard rocking punk band that are best known for incorporating their radical left and anti capitalistic politics ever so subtly in their music.  Lead singer, Dennis Lyxzen possessed incredibly high energy as he played across the stage that kept the crowd bouncing for more.

The main attraction of the night was the Deftones, supporting their first release in four years, “Gore”, which came out earl April.  While Deftones may take a more ambiguity angle  with their lyrics, there’s no ambiguity in their alternative metal style music.  Guitars shredded and blended in with Chino Moreno’s vocal capabilities nicely.

Check their website for more shows in the area, the Deftones have certainly gained the reputation of one hot concert ticket this summer!
