Community Leaders Help to Promote Meals On Wheels



 

Area officials to deliver to people in need through “March For Meals” initiative

(BETHLEHEM TWP.) – In celebration of the 15th anniversary of March For Meals, Meals On Wheels of Northampton County will welcome prominent people throughout the community today who will deliver meals to home-bound seniors and adults with disabilities.

Each local celebrity will be paired with an experienced volunteer to deliver meals and smiles. Here are the scheduled Community Champions for today (St. Patrick’s Day):

  • PA State Representative Zach Mako
  • Nazareth Mayor John Samus
  • Northampton Mayor Tom Reenock
  • Portland Mayor Lance Prator
  • Marta Gabriel, regional manager for Senator Pat Toomey
  • Priscilla Rosado, United Way Healthy Aging and Food Access Manager
  • Carol Ritter & Laurel Mikovits of Carol Talks
  • Eric Staub and Denise Janenko of Working Dog Press

Auto racing legend Mario Andretti will volunteer to deliver meals as a Community Champion on March 27, and the NAM Knights Motorcycle Club will deliver on March 31.

Meals On Wheels of Northampton County (www.mealsonwhgeelspa.org) is a private, nonprofit organization that has supported healthy living through the delivery of nutrition services since 1972. We provide meals and smiles for more than 1,500 seniors and adults with disabilities each year. In 2017, we expect to prepare more than 565,000 hot and cold, medically tailored meals for our clients and three sister Meals On Wheels organizations and Senior Centers in Lehigh County.
