Lehigh County Raises Awareness of Mental Health

Lehigh County, in partnership with NAMI Lehigh Valley, celebrate Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day by raising awareness and showing that positive mental health is essential to a child’s healthy development.

Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day will take place on Thursday, May 4 at 1 p.m. at Lehigh County Government Center, 17 South 7th Street in Allentown.

Attending will be County Executive Thomas Muller; Representative Michael Schlossberg, Democratic co-chair and co-founder of the Mental Health Caucus, who has helped members of the General Assembly and citizens of Pennsylvania understand mental health issues and concerns; Mariel Hufnagel, a Speaker with Minding Your Mind who will talk about her personal journey; and local Musician Craig Thatcher who is an advocate of mental health awareness and eradication of stigma.

Mental Health impacts 1 out of 5 children in our community. Courageous conversations can help reduce stigma and build healthy communities where our children can live, love, and learn to their full potential.
