PAWLOWSKI ANNOUNCES PARKS & REC NOMINEE

Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski today announced the nomination of Ms. Lindsay Taylor to become the city’s next Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Ms. Taylor is currently the long term Director of Parks and Recreation for the Township of Lower Merion, in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.  In that capacity, Ms. Taylor has demonstrated her leadership and managerial skills both internally and externally in overseeing a workforce of 29 full-time and 138 part-time employees in a 725 acre park system.

Ms. Taylor is no stranger to the Lehigh Valley, having served as Director of Parks and Recreation in Lower Providence Township, Eagleville and is currently Executive Director of the Lower Macungie Youth Association.  She holds two degrees from West Chester University.

“Lindsay comes to us with a great deal of experience in running a park system,” said Pawlowski.  “Our park system is the jewel of the city and we have been diligent in maintaining its excellence since assuming office in 2006.  I am confident that under her direction we will continue to improve our park and recreation facilities and develop programming for our residents.”

“I am extremely excited at the opportunity to come and work for the citizens and the City of Allentown,” Taylor said.  “The city has an extraordinary park system and I am looking forward to continuing to provide programs that respond to the interests of residents.”

Taylor’s nomination must be confirmed by City Council.
