Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center Launches ‘Campaign for Equity’ to Eliminate Mortgage by End of 2018

ALLENTOWN, PA — Last evening at its Fall Gala & LGBT Community Leadership Awards held at Willow Tree Grove in Orefield, PA, Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center announced the launch of the Campaign for Equity – the organizations second capital campaign – to eliminate the mortgage on its building by the end of 2018.

“We believe in a Lehigh Valley where LGBT people are treated with fairness and dignity and we work to ensure a vibrant, visible, and resilient LGBT community.” Said Executive Director Adrian Shanker, “Our Campaign for Equity will lead to long-term sustainability and capital growth for Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. Our organization works hard to produce high-quality, leading-edge health, arts, and youth programs for the LGBT community across the Lehigh Valley. The Campaign for Equity means more funds can be spent on programs for the community rather than on interest payments.”

Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center purchased its 13,000 square foot downtown Allentown building in September 2015 for $340,000 with financing from People First Federal Credit Union. Just two years later, the organization had already paid off more than $60,000 of principal. The Campaign For Equity’s goal is to raise the remaining $215,000 in 14 months. In the first night of the campaign more than $30,000 was raised, leaving $185,000 to go.

The campaign is co-chaired by William McGlinn and Claire Ippoliti. Additional committee members include Lizabeth Kay Kleintop, Attorney Mark Stanziola, and Jacob Glessner.
