PBS39 Nominated for Five 2018 Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy® Awards



 

Bethlehem, PA, August 15, 2018 – Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy® Award Nominees were announced Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the PPL Public Media Center at PBS39 in Bethlehem, PA.  WLVT – PBS39 was nominated for 5 awards, while three new team members of the organization were nominated for 7 student awards from their senior year at Temple University.

 

In the category of Human Interest Program or Special, PBS39 got the nomination for, “Close to Home: Depression.”  In the category of Historical or Cultural Program, PBS39 was nominated for, “Close to Home: Changed by War.”  In the category of Health/Environment/Science Program or Special, PBS39 was nominated for, “Close to Home: Street Medicine.”  In the category of Education/Schools Program Feature or Segment, PBS39 was nominated for, “Educational Update: Aquaponics.”  In the category of Arts/Entertainment Program Feature or Segment, PBS39 was nominated for, “FOCUS: Faces of the Southside.”

 

The PBS39 team who worked on these stories included Dr. Teri Haddad, Laura McHugh, Brittany Garzillo, Matthew Lewis, Stephen Kauffman, Jeffrey Frederick, Lisa Robinson, Gabriel Spitale, Steven Whitcombe, and Michael Lucas.

 

In addition, three newly-hired team members of PBS39 garnered a total of 7 nominations for their work while at Temple University.  Rob DiRienzo was nominated for 3, Tracy Yatsko was nominated for 2, and Daniel Ray was nominated for 2.  Yatsko joined the PBS39 team in January as a General Assignment Reporter and Host.  Ray joined PBS39 in May as a Producer/Editor, and DiRienzo was hired as part of the “PBS39 Reporter Corps” in June as a Multimedia Journalist.
