AMERICAN RED CROSS of the GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY, Allentown needs volunteers to help with their SOUND TH ALARM campaign from 8:30am to 2:30PM on Saturday, April 27. Volunteers will be sharing fire-safety tips and installing free smoke alarms (by appointment throughout Allentown). Equipment, supplies, training (no prior experience needed), even light breakfast, snacks and lunch will be provided. CEDARBROOK SENIOR CARE AND REHAB, Allentown has residents who love going to their in-house beauty shop, but these residents often need someone to push their wheelchair or walk beside them. A volunteer is needed for just one afternoon each week from 1-4pm on Wednesdays. Won’t you consider helping residents enjoy an opportunity to be pampered at Cedarbrook’s beauty shop? COMMUNITY BIKE WORKS, Allentown is looking for volunteers to teach the class in their Earn-a-Bike program. This program teaches students (ages 9-17) basic bike mechanics and safety over a 12-week course. Mentors aid students as they fix their bike and learn communication and teamwork skills. GREATER VALLEY YMCA, Easton – The Forks YMCA Education Center has a classroom that needs repainting. They have all the supplies needed and are looking for 10-15 volunteers to assist in getting the project completed in one day on Monday, January 21 from 9am-1:43pm. LEHIGH VALLEY ACTIVE LIFE, Allentown is looking for volunteers to help with Bingo from 5:30-9pm on Wednesdays; hours are flexible within that time frame. SECOND HARVEST – COOKING MATTERS PROGRAM needs volunteers for their Cooking Matters Program, a six-week cooking and nutrition educational course, offered to low income families at sites in Allentown and Bethlehem. Volunteer commitment is 3 hours per week for 6 consecutive weeks. Volunteers go through a 2-hour online training and a 1 hour in-person training. ST. LUKE’S UNIVERSITY HEALTH NETWORK, Bethlehem, Quakertown and Warren Campuses need Volunteer Escorts, Patient Advocates and Hospice Volunteers Monday through Friday from 8am-12pm or 12-4pm. Spend time socializing with and providing comfort items to patients and lending a hand to staff.
