United Way Announces 2018-19 Award Winners



 

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley will present awards at annual Celebration of Caring Event on Thursday, April 18.

Allentown, PA, April 4, 2019 – United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV) announces the recipients for this year’s 2018-19 Celebration of Caring campaign awards. These awards recognize individuals and corporations who succeeded in their community contribution through giving, volunteering and advocating. UWGLV will present these awards on Thursday, April 18 at DeSales University.

The 2018-19 award recipients include:

City Center Allentown – LIVE UNITED Award

Presented to an organization/company whose engagement in the Lehigh Valley community results in a significant contribution toward improving the quality of life for those in need.

Buckeye Partners, L.P. – Campaign Chairs’ Award

Presented to a company that has demonstrated leadership and innovation in conducting its United Way campaign and an ability to increase awareness about United Way’s mission and vision.

ArtsQuest – Air Products Leonard Pool Impact Award

Presented by Air Products, the award recognizes a non-profit organization that demonstrates commitment to community leadership, stewardship of community resources, active volunteer engagement, and improves lives.

Dennis Hower of Teamsters Local 773 – Labor Achievement Award

Presented to an individual member or team from organized labor that actively supports our community organizations by moving people to action through volunteer service and positively impacts our community.

Tony Cioffi of Adams Outdoor Advertising – Community Building Award

Presented to an individual or organization that supports United Way in its community-building efforts, encourages cooperation, contributes talents and sustains partnerships.

Anne Baum – Campaign Volunteer Award

Presented to a campaign volunteer who demonstrates outstanding leadership, uses United Way’s best practices and make every effort to help the campaign succeed.

Bob Jacobs – Carbon County Champion Award

Presented to a Carbon County resident, business or organization that demonstrates outstanding community leadership and supports United Way’s efforts to improve the quality of life for people living and working in Carbon County.

Samantha Moyer – TeenWorks “Making a Difference” Award

Presented to recognize the TeenWorks “Project of the Year” conducted by local teens and funded through a TeenWorks grant. Projects are accomplished throughout the Lehigh Valley and make a difference in our communities, as well as, the lives of the young people who perform the service.

Ashley Russo – Women United “Betsy Torrence Philanthropist of the Year” Award

Presented to a Women United member who is active in the community, is a philanthropic leader in the Lehigh Valley and demonstrates a personal commitment of time, talent and treasure to the best of her ability.

Sonia Vasquez – Lifetime Achievement Award

Presented to an individual who demonstrates a lifetime of philanthropic leadership, impact and inspiring service to the community.

The event will be hosted by Laura McHugh, Director of Communications and Media Relations at UWGLV, and Matt Pye, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Just Born Quality Confections.
