ALLENTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUNDATION is looking for volunteers to read to kindergartners (and some 1st graders) in classrooms across the city. Training is scheduled for Thursday, November 21 from 1:30-2:30pm at Jackson Elementary Childhood Center, 517 North 15th St. Street parking is available. CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY OF THE GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY, Bethlehem is hosting a Gift-Wrapping Event at Wind Creek Casino Outlets during the holiday shopping season and needs volunteers age 12+ to wrap gifts. HOLIDAY HOPE CHESTS need volunteers to donate wrapped shoeboxes filled with age appropriate items for Lehigh Valley’s children in need. Suggested gift lists are provided on our website. This program, coordinated by the Volunteer Center, is a great project for large/small groups, clubs, classes, families, and individuals. LEHIGH VALLEY ZOO, Schnecksville has fun volunteer opportunities available for you to earn FREE passes to their Winter Light Spectacular. Volunteers help with costumed characters, holiday crafts and activities, fire pits, concession and hot chocolate stands, guest parking, and more! Each night you volunteer earns an Admission Ticket. NEW BETHANY MINISTRIES, Bethlehem – Help prepare for Luminaria Night 2019. Volunteers (age 18+ or 12-17 with adult) are needed for their final push to complete packing luminaria kits on Monday, November 18 and Tuesday, November 19 from 4-6pm. PHOEBE ALLENTOWN HEALTH CARE CENTER is seeking a volunteer on Mondays or Tuesdays to help seniors order their groceries online. Being proficient with a computer would be extremely helpful, but the ordering process is simple. Ordering usually takes 2-3 hours and the timing is flexible. SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK, Nazareth needs warehouse volunteers for their Free Fridays, when their member agencies shop (at no cost to them). Volunteers for Free Friday are needed every other Friday from 12:30-2:30pm. Volunteers must be comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, and walking for the entire time.
