This November 30, you can be part of the 10th annual holiday shopping tradition that helps to bring communities together in support of their favorite small businesses. Emmaus Main Street Partners apply each year through American Express to serve as a Community Champion. With this distinction, they receive a package of marketing materials that they use to connect the community with our local businesses. The package includes banners, pendant flags, balloons, and more that EMSP hands out to local businesses. The package also includes decorated canvas tote bags. With those tote bags, Main Street Partners collects coupons, freebies, chachskis, marketing materials and more from local businesses to put in the tote bags. Then EMSP sends out a sign up link to the community who can reserve a stuffed bag for FREE.

This year bag holders can anticipate items from Patrick McNealis, ServiceMaster of Allentown, Vinyl Press Signs & Graphics, Select Sales, Emmaus Historical Society, Total Health & Sport Care, the Mix Bartending School, New Tripoli Bank, Conversational Threads Fiber Arts Studio, Emmaus Public Library, House Splendid, Khineder Creations La Verita Spa, Top Star Express, Empower Nutrition & Wellness, David’s Italian Market, Yergey Brewing, South Mountain Cycle & Café, Kleckner & Sons Appliances, JP Raynock: Allstate Insurance, and more!

American Express cares deeply about thriving communities and believes small businesses area the core of every successful neighborhood. That’s why – in the midst of the recession in 2010 – they created Small Business Saturday on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to encourage people to Shop Small and bring more holiday shopping to small businesses. In 2011, the Senate unanimously passed a resolution in support of the day, and officials in all 50 states participate. It even gets a shout-out from the President of the United States.
