May 9th: Concert for A Coffeehouse Without Limits

Concert Fundraiser for A Coffeehouse Without Limits

May 9th event will benefit startup coffee shop

Allentown, PA: A concert fundraiser for Allentown’s very first specialty coffee shop, A Coffeehouse Without Limits, is being held at Allentown’s Alternative Gallery on May 9th, 2015 at 7PM. The event will include live music, a silent art auction, a gift raffle, with proceeds of which going to start-up costs aiding the venture. The event will also feature fresh, locally-roasted coffees by Monocacy Coffee Co., a start-up specialty coffee roaster from Bethlehem, PA.

A Coffeehouse Without Limits’ owner, Billy Mack, was a traveling musician who settled in the Allentown area some time ago. He’s worked at several coffee shops, and is currently at barista at Bethlehem’s The Joint. Mack noticed the community benefits of having a “third place,” a safe environment separate from the home or workplace, where one can socialize and be productive alongside neighbors. Mack believes that a clean meeting-place, where people can come together as fellow community members over a cup of coffee can be an uplifting benefit to Allentown’s morale and diversity. “The aim is to empower community, through art, friendship and coffee,” says Mack.

“Allentown doesn’t yet have much going on in the realms of specialty coffee.” says Dan Taylor, co-owner and operator of Monocacy Coffee Co., “We want to change that, and foster an appreciation for a beverage we often overlook. People don’t realize that coffee is the most complex drink in the world, more so than beer or wine — scientists can’t even replicate the chemical reactions that happen when roasting beans. We believe that A Coffeehouse Without Limits will entice a new crowd of coffee-mindful people into Allentown, and hopefully be the catalyst for a ‘coffee-revolution’ of sorts throughout the region. Monocacy Coffee Company couldn’t be more excited to be working alongside Billy in opening this shop.”

Saturday, May 9th’s concert fundraiser at Allentown’s Alternative Gallery (707 N 4th St., suite 103) will feature:

  • Five local alternative bands GSGA, Sing Bird Of Prey, Cloudmine, Spur and Tiny Planet
  • Gift Raffle
  • Silent Art Auction (Items will be accepted until May 7th)
  • A Pour-Over Coffee Bar with specialty organic coffees from around the world from Monocacy Coffee Co., as well as unique Bethlehem-styled Smoked Cold Brew coffees.
  • A donation of $5-10 will be accepted at the door, proceeds go to help get A Coffeehouse Without Limits up and running
