COMPEER OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY, Allentown needs volunteers for one-on-one friendship matches.   Compeer matches volunteers from the community with members who are in stable, mental health recovery.  Volunteers spend time with the member doing things like talking over a cup of coffee, taking a walk, going to a free concert, and many more.  Hours are flexible and available in both Northampton and Lehigh Counties.  Call 610-774-1450 or email compeer@pbfalv.org.

 

GOOD SHEPHERD REHABILITATION NETWORK, Allentown has rewarding volunteer opportunities at their main campus and other sites for the following:  companions for long-term care residents, patient/resident transportation, patient ambassadors, and clerical assistance.  Gift Shop help is also needed 9am-noon Monday through Friday at the main campus.  Call JoAnn Frey, 610-776-3125, jfrey@gsrh.org.

 

LEHIGH VALLEY ACTIVE LIFE, Allentown is looking for volunteers (age14+) to be on call to shovel snow for low income senior citizens living in Allentown when snowfall is two inches or more.  Be a real “Snow Angel” and call Rick Daugherty, 610-437-3700, rick@lvactivelife.org.

 

LEHIGH VALLEY ZOO, Schnecksville is looking for dedicated volunteers (13+ years) for the 2018 season. Positions include: managing interactive exhibits, craft tables, activity stations, lots of fun games, membership, marketing, grounds departments. MEALS ON WHEELS OF LEHIGH COUNTY, Allentown is looking for volunteers (18+ years) to distribute meals to homebound individuals between 11am-1pm Monday-Friday.   Teams of 2 deliver to 33 routes throughout Lehigh County.  Drive a route or ride along as a visitor.  Bring a friend and form a team or let us provide a partner for you.   Training scheduled for Wed 2/14 @1:30pm and Thur 2/15 @ 10:30am.  Call Dawn Stillwagen, 610-398-2563, dstillwagen@mealsonwheelslc.org.

 

NORTHEAST MINISTRY, Bethlehem is seeking volunteers to tutor students in grades 1-12 during their After School Homework Club.  The club meets Monday to Thursday from 3:30-5:30pm.  Tutors assist students with homework, reading, and school projects.  All tutors must complete and pass background clearances before beginning to volunteer.  Call Paula Johnson, 610-691-3355, johnsonp@northeastministry.com.

 

PHOEBE ALLENTOWN NURSING HOME needs friendly, compassionate & chatty volunteers to help in our gift shop. If you are interested, the hours we need help with are: Monday & Wednesday   3 – 7pm;

SIXTH STREET SHELTER, Allentown needs volunteers to restock and refresh apartments on Saturdays from 10am – 2pm.  As apartments are vacated, they must be cleaned and restocked for incoming residents.    When families move out, they are allowed to take sheets, pillows, blanket, and other household items with them.  Volunteers will then restock these items from the donation basement.  Call Kristine Blasco, 610-435-1490, Kblasco@caclv.org.
