28th Annual Spirit Awards
June 12th, 2021 | 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM

The Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber, proud partner of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce presents the 28th Annual Spirit Award!

The Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce (GNLCC), proud partner of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber, is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 28th Annual Spirit Award will be awarded to local community leader and volunteer Nancy Treskot of Walnutport! The event and award ceremony will be hosted on Saturday, June 12th, 2021, at Ontelaunee Park Pavilion in New Tripoli, PA, beginning at 9:30 AM. The morning brunch will be held in this historic park, as we honor our awardees that have impacted the past, present and future of the Greater Northern Lehigh region.

“Nancy’s involvement within the Greater Northern Lehigh area, and beyond, is the epitome of service,” said Kylie Adams, Assistant Vice President of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “The years of hard work and volunteerism that Nancy has served made her an indisputable candidate for this year’s Spirit Award.”

Nancy Treskot is a graduate of Palmerton Area High School and Chamberlayne College (Boston, Massachusetts), where she graduated with an Associates Degree in Business Management. Before entering retirement, Treskot worked as an Expediter for sales and services at Bambergers/Macy’s and as Sales Manager for Palmerton Lumber Company before finishing her career at PenTeleData where she served in Sales as Sales Manager and Educational Coordinator.

Throughout her life, Treskot was involved in many local organizations, including the Slatington Junior Women’s Club (Past President), the Slatington Easter Stars, the Venture Group (Current Chair, Trailhead Area), the Northern Valley Emergency (Board of Directors, Secretary), the Northeast Berks Chamber of Commerce (Past President), the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce (Past President), the Walnutport Playground Association’s Carnival Committee, and the Walnutport Canal Association.

“During my working career I sat on various Community, Education and Parent committees for schools and libraries, from Berks county up to Wayne and Pike Counties.  To this day I still serve on several advisory boards for schools in the Allentown Diocese.  I freely work with venders and consultants focusing on the e-rate program to benefit schools and libraries, as well as work, freely, with schools and libraries explaining the e-rate program and encouraging them to participate,” said Treskot of her past and continued community involvement.

Currently, Mrs. Treskot lives in Walnutport Borough and resides with her husband, Robert Treskot. They have two daughters, Trish and Gale, and three happy, healthy and active grandchildren whom they take great pride in.

“Nancy’s involvement in Greater Northern Lehigh, Palmerton, and Berks County has spanned her entire lifetime,” said Andy Gildner, Chair of the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce and Owner of Keystone Technology LLC. “As someone who brought me into the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber, I have watched her passion and energy and happily followed in her footsteps as Chairperson. Nancy’s ‘retired’ status on relates to her paid work; she continues to work day-in and day-out serving our community. Without a doubt, Nancy sets an example for our community and business leaders.  She works tirelessly to make our area a better community in which to live.  I am happy we can recognize her achievements and commitment to our greater community.”

“The Spirit Award is given to someone who has actively worked to make our community a better place to live and work,” said Jessica O’Donnell, Executive Vice President of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “For 28 years, the region has gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of our neighbors and the type of person who continues to selflessly give back in order to make Greater Northern Lehigh great! Nancy Treskot has continued to make strives, even in retirement, to not only to improve our community, but to ensure that its beauty and safety last for years to come.”

Also being celebrated at the 28th Annual Spirit Awards is Bechtel’s Pharmacy (Business of the Year) and K9 Kop Project (Non-Profit of the Year). Attendees are encouraged to purchase raffle tickets for a basket raffle at the event, which will benefit K9 Kop Project.
