Lamont McClure has declared November 29, 2021 as Tony Bassil Day in honor of Northampton County’s Controller who passed away in September. The County flag will be lowered to half-staff in his memory.

“Tony was a good friend and a fine gentleman who dedicated his life to public service,” says Lamont McClure. “The County of Northampton celebrates Tony’s service to his community this day, November 29th, which was also the date of his birth.”

Tony Bassil was the Controller of Northampton County and previously served as the Financial Controller for the City of Easton. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Pomfret Club and the owner of The Carmelcorn Shop.

Controller is an elected position. In October, County Council appointed Richard “Bucky” Szulborski to complete Tony Bassil’s term.
