Hip Hop and Hoop into Easter with TBL’s 2nd Annual ALL-STAR Weekend



Lehigh Valley Legends Basketball Host Celebrity All-Star Games with Performances by Roc Nation, WayMaker, Mascot LeVi, and Local Artists

LEHIGH VALLEY, PA – April 7, 2023 –The Basketball League (TBL), known for delivering a world class professional basketball experience will spend Easter weekend in Lehigh Valley this year.  Players, executives, staff and fans representing the leagues’ 49 teams will converge on Lafayette College campus for the TBL 2nd Annual All-Star Weekend, April 7 – 8, 2023.

“We are thrilled to bring our signature event of All-Star Weekend to the Lehigh Valley area. Legends’ Majority Team Market Owner, James Stewart, and our Lehigh Valley Legends will host an exciting, memorable and legendary 2-day event,” says David Magley, TBL President.

The weekend’s festivities begin with a “Kick-Off Performance” by local artist King F.A.M.E., also known as James Stewart Jr., “AKA” JJ.  This will be a surprise to Legends’ superfans who usually see the President’s son in his well-executed role as Director of Game-Day Operations.  Additional performances slated throughout TBL’s star-studded weekend include Jay Z’s Roc Nation artist, HDBeenDope along with performances by WayMaker artists JuSteph and Mz Aretta.  Rounding out musical entertainment is local crowd pleaser, LG Izz, who is expected to deliver a heart-felt, yet in-your-face showstopper with hits, “No Label” and “Keep My Spirit Alive”.

What about the games you ask?  The Celebrity and All-Star games will tip-off on Saturday, April 8th at 2:30 p.m. and 5:35 p.m. respectively.  Players include local sports celebrities, Lehigh Valley home-town heroes and top-ranked players from The Basketball League’s 49 North American teams and regional areas.  TBL’s 2nd Annual All-Star teams are named after TBL CEO and President’s grandchildren, 11 year-old Blake and 8 year -old Grant Gabou.  Team Blake showcases TBL Midwest and Central Conference players while Team Grant showcases East and West Conference players.

All-Star Team Grant, coached by Potawatomi Fire’s Mark Dannhoff includes Ed Dyson III, Kalamazoo; Chris Darrington, Toledo; Derk “Hawk” Hawthorne, Kokomo; Greg Foster, Medora; La’Darius Carter, Huntsville; Vance Hall, Derby City; Cam Mitchell, Kentucky; Deshawn Munson, Potawatomi; Chuck Guy, Potawatomi; Teddy Allen, Wichita; Paul Parks, Shreveport; and Ethan Chargios, Enid.

The pint-sized entrepreneurs are also the league’s youth initiative, JRTBL, CEO and President. TBL CEO, Evelyn Magley and President, David Magley appointed their grandchildren, Blake and Grant, as high-level executives for their community empowerment arm of TBL.

“We wanted youth to run our youth initiative,” Jennifer Magley writes in a Forbes Magazine contribution article, “… (JRTBL) by design is to give back to local communities through events and activities that empower youth.”

And the Magley’s deliver with a Jr TBL Basketball Clinic on Saturday, April 8th from 11:00 – 1:30pm for ages 6-13.  The exhibition is free to those who register on Eventbrite and will focus on basketball skills presentations and techniques followed by a financial literacy seminar tailored for children.

League Commissioner, Carlnel Wiley and Lehigh Valley Legends’ executives did not miss on incorporating TBL’s mission.  In true fashion, “Where the Spirit of the Game Lives” will reign as the audience gets to watch an amplified “3-Point Shooting Contest with our own Ja James (All-Star Team Blake) and Monty Boykins. The highly competitive “Dunk Contest” is also on deck.  Hometown Hero and Heavyweight Boxing Champ, Larry Holmes is rumored to be giving champion “belts” to winners in these categories.

Crowd fans are encouraged to participate in interactive craziest fan, dribble relay, free throw, hoop shot, basketball bowling, half-court shot, t-shirt toss and obstacle course contests.
