CITY OF EASTON
PENNSYLVANIA
FIRE DEPARTMENT
11 North 6th Street – Easton, PA 18042
Wednesday June 1, 2023

On Monday May 29, 2023, The Easton Fire Department was dispatched at 15:42 for a dwelling fire 911 Ferry Street. On arrival at 15:44, the incident commander had fire showing from three, three story dwellings. The incident commander requested a recall of off duty firefighters and mutual aid to respond and assist in fighting the fire. This fire reached multiple alarms and was placed under control at 20:04 hours.

This row of homes was built in 1900 and there were no fire walls between these properties. These homes shared a common wall of wood frame construction with plaster and lathe or drywall, allowing the fire to advance rapidly.

These properties were damaged:

909, 911, 913, 915, 917, 919, 921, 923, 923 ½, 925, 927, 929, 931, 933 and 935 Ferry Street. Displacing 44 individuals.

Deputy Chief Chad Gruver will lead the origin and cause investigation, he will update the media when his investigation has completed.

I would like to thank everyone who assisted the Easton Fire Department on Monday 29, 2023.

Henry Hennings
