Bethlehem releases annual limited edition Christmas ornaments in honor of first responders

Bethlehem, PA (October 5, 2023) – A classic Moravian star shines above a set of four flickering candles in an arched window for this year’s annual Christmas City Trellis Ornaments. “The star and candles represent the light Bethlehem’s first responders shine on the community,” said Brittney Ciardi, Assistant Vice President of the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce. “First Responders, like the Star of Bethlehem, light the way during trying and uncertain times.”

People who purchase ornaments can have them engraved with a first responder’s name. “You might honor your father who is a firefighter or your sister who is a police officer. Maybe you’d like to recognize a first responder who protected you or saved the life of someone you love. An ornament is a truly beautiful way to say thank you in front of the entire community,” said Ciardi.

Get recognized on The Christmas City Trellis
Volunteers hang the ornaments on the Christmas City Trellis at Payrow Plaza. Throughout the holiday season, thousands of people will admire them. Ciardi noted, “For many families, it has become a tradition to go find their ornament on the trellis and take photos.” At the end of the season, you or the person who you are honoring, can take the ornament home.

Ornament sales help fund Christmas in the city
The ornaments, which sell out quickly, serve as an important fundraiser for the Citizens Christmas City Committee. This 501c3 nonprofit organization organizes and funds Christmas decorations and community Christmas activities in Bethlehem every year.
