ABOUT THE CHARTER ARTS PRODUCTION ARTS DEPARTMENT:

Students in Production Arts learn an array of technical skills used behind the scenes in film, theatre and media. Sound, lighting, set design & construction, costume design & construction, and filmmaking are several of the core focuses within the department. These students also have the opportunity to craft sets and costumes, run sound and lighting boards, and work backstage on the performances and events held at Charter Arts.

In the Film and Media courses students develop skills in cinematography, camera operation, and editing as they study and create original film and media productions. Projects range from creating short films to designing social media style content to recording live broadcast style productions. In courses oriented towards Technical Theatre students will focus on set design and construction, costuming, lighting, projection design, and sound for live productions. The course material and extracurricular events within this program provide students with opportunities to develop professional skills in the Production industry that are typically inaccessible to high school students.
