Wild Fox Farm: Berks County farm launches Barnraiser to maximize sustainable efforts

Building a Brighter Future at Wild Fox Farm Pennsylvania Farm Taps Barnraiser to Reduce Carbon Footprint

Barto, Pennsylvania: The beauty of sustainable growing is at work on Wild Fox Farm but they need your help to bring the power of sustainable energy to life. The small family-owned and operated farm in Berks County is launching a crowdfunding campaign via Barnraiser this April to raise funds for the installation of a rooftop solar array and an energy efficient walk-in freezer.

Wild Fox Farm currently nurtures 40 acres of prime farmland in Pennsylvania’s beautiful Butter Valley. Family owned and operated by Ben and Karah Davies, the farm practices holistic and sustainable methods to grow their five acres of vegetables, raise pastured poultry and eggs, wood lot pork, and free range lamb. They never use synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or GMO seed, and the animals never receive hormones or antibiotics. Their products are shared with the community through summer and winter CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares, farm-to-table restaurants, and sold from their stand at the Emmaus Farmers Market every Sunday.

Owners, Ben & Karah Davies and their crew, currently maintain product storage by using six chest freezers, which require six compressors to run, plus an offsite freezer facility to store meats. With the recent increase of demand for their sustainable, high quality offerings, it’s imperative that they secure efficient and eco-friendly equipment to continue the encouragement of healthy bodies, healthy minds, and healthy land.

There is an obvious price tag that comes with such equipment, which is why Wild Fox Farm has turned to Barnraiser, a crowdfunding platform for millions of people who want better health for themselves and the planet. Barnraiser (http://www.barnraiser.us/) makes it easy to discover, share, and fund the people changing how we farm, eat and live.

With plans for the campaign to launch early April, 2016, there’s a variety of ways to show your support.
