The grant will fund the nonprofit’s supportive housing programs for families and individuals.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (April 16, 2025)- New Bethany, Inc., a local nonprofit that provides nutritious food access, housing and social services, announced it has received $40,000 from the Two Rivers Health & Wellness Foundation to fund its supportive housing programs for families and individuals. Supportive housing provides case management and supportive services to New Bethany’s Transitional Housing and Single-Room Occupancy programs to better serve its clients and help them maintain permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

“Three years ago, Two Rivers was the first private funder to invest in our new model of Supportive Housing,” said New Bethany’s Executive Director Marc Rittle. “We are incredibly grateful to them for continuing to invest in the people we serve and their understanding of the connection between health and housing and the role our Resident Advisory plays in that.”

New Bethany’s supportive housing programs mitigate the negative impact of homelessness by providing a safe, secure and supportive home for individuals and families while they work to resolve the challenges that led to their being unhoused. Every household can work with their resident advisor to develop a goal plan, which is related to achieving and maintaining housing stability and other objectives to improve their quality of life and autonomy. Supportive Housing for Families is one of the region’s few family-based facilities that allow men. Residents receive immediate transitional support with the goal of securing permanent housing.

The Two Rivers Health & Wellness Foundation brings people, organizations and resources together to improve the health and well-being of all people in Northampton County. The organization partners with nonprofits, individuals, businesses, government leaders and other foundations to find solutions to critical health issues.

“Two Rivers Health & Wellness Foundation is honored to continue our support of New Bethany’s supportive housing programs,” said Daniel T. McMahon, Two Rivers Health & Wellness Foundation’s vice president of programming and operations. “As the original private funder of this initiative, we recognized early on the vital connection between stable housing and overall health. We are proud to invest once again in a model that not only provides safe and secure housing but also delivers the comprehensive support necessary to help individuals and families achieve long-term stability and well-being.”

Forty years ago, housing was one of the first services that New Bethany offered to the community. Over the years, the model has evolved to provide neighbors with the best opportunity to live safe and civically engaged lives.
