April 17, 2025 – The City of Allentown is seeking public input through its new Citywide Bike Plan Survey, an important first step in creating a safer, more connected bicycle network across the City.
As part of its ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure and promote active lifestyles, the City is developing a comprehensive bike plan that will increase safety and usability of Allentown’s bike lanes, trails, and related facilities.
“Bicycling is one of the joys of life and we want to hear from Allentown about how it can be better here,” said Mayor Matt Tuerk. “With your input, we can make riding in Allentown safer and more accessible to all. Tell us about where we should invest and how we can improve our transportation system for cyclists and all street users.”
The brief survey invites stakeholders to share their experiences and ideas around biking in Allentown. Input gathered will help the City identify key priorities for safety upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and expanded connectivity for cyclists of all ages and skill levels.
Key areas of focus for the bike plan include:
- Enhancing safety for cyclists and pedestrians
- Expanding the existing network of bike lanes and trails
- Promoting equitable access to transportation
- Supporting sustainability and active living goals

The full Citywide Bike Plan is expected to be released in late summer 2025, incorporating community feedback and outlining actionable strategies for creating a more bike-friendly Allentown.
This plan will be incorporated into the City’s Safe Streets for All (SS4A) project and included as an appendix in the existing report, which will be available at www.allentownpa.gov/ss4a.
