#MadeInPAMondays social media campaign highlights impact of Pennsylvania manufacturers

Harrisburg, PA — Treasurer Stacy Garrity announced today that manufacturers and makers from all 67 counties across the Commonwealth have been featured at least twice in the #MadeInPAMondays social media campaign since the initiative started in May 2021.

“Manufacturing is the driving force of Pennsylvania’s economy, employing millions of dedicated workers and generating billions of dollars in revenue,” said Treasurer Garrity. “My time in the private sector taught me how significantly a business can impact its community. That’s why I am proud to say I have featured manufacturers and makers from all 67 counties twice through this social media campaign to showcase the incredible work they do.”

“Manufacturing is the backbone of communities across Pennsylvania, upholding our quality of life and driving our economy forward. Our sector creates the most value, supports the most jobs through supply chains, and offers the best wages and benefits in the marketplace. Manufacturers also serve as vital local taxpayers, funding schools, public safety, and essential infrastructure,” said David N. Taylor, President & CEO, Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association. “We commend Treasurer Garrity for her continued commitment to spotlighting Pennsylvania’s manufacturing sector—now having featured manufacturers in every county not once, but twice. Her recognition of the people who innovate, invest, and produce the goods that sustain American civilization is both timely and deeply appreciated.”

The #MadeInPAMondays campaign, which can be seen on Instagram (@PATreasury), X (@PATreasurer), LinkedIn (Pennsylvania Treasury), Threads (@patreasury), and Facebook (PA Treasurer Stacy Garrity and Pennsylvania Treasury), features a different Pennsylvania manufacturer or maker every Monday.

More than 190 manufacturers and makers from a range of industries have been highlighted so far, including agriculture, chemical, machinery, and electronics.

Some of the recent companies featured in #MadeInPAMondays are Zippo Manufacturing in McKean County, i2M in Luzerne County, and Martin’s Potato Rolls in Franklin County.

Zippo was founded in 1932 by George G. Blaisdell in Bradford, PA. It has manufactured more than 650 million windproof lighters and maintains a diverse product line marketed in over 160 countries worldwide. Zippo has remained family-owned since its founding over 90 years ago.

The Zippo windproof lighter is ingrained in American culture and is a global icon of durability and reliability.

“From its humble beginnings to becoming one of the most recognized brands in the world, Zippo is proof that a single idea can flourish with the right combination of innovation, determination and commitment to quality,” said John Sicher, EVP of marketing and innovation for Zippo Manufacturing Company. “We’re proud of our past, present and future in Bradford, and thank Treasurer Garrity for taking the time to visit us.”

i2M is a leading manufacturer, designer, and printer of advanced, flexible plastic films. With decades of experience and a commitment to driving the plastics industry forward, i2M has built a legacy of high-quality, innovative, and sustainable products made proudly in the USA.

“At i2M, we take pride in being a privately-held company manufacturing high-performance flexible films right here in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania,” said i2M CEO, Alex Grover. “Our products are used across the country in everything from roofing and waterproofing to pool liners and architectural design—but their story starts in PA. This state has always been a powerhouse of American manufacturing, and we’re proud to be part of that legacy. By investing in our people, advancing sustainable innovation, and keeping our operations strong in Pennsylvania, we’re helping drive the future of U.S. manufacturing from the heart of the Commonwealth.”

Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe, Inc. is a family owned and operated consumer goods company headquartered in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. They are a bread and roll manufacturer rigorously dedicated to extraordinary taste, quality, and customer service that proudly represents their legacy of cherished eating experiences.

“When my grandparents first started making Martin’s Potato Rolls in their garage back in 1955, I doubt they realized that the company would grow to make the #1 Potato Roll in the United States—and that their rolls would be sold in 57 countries around the world. ‘We were just trying to feed our family,’ was Grandma’s response when I asked her what their goals were when they started the business. And truly that’s still our goal: to feed families, to create great jobs that help people to provide for their families, and to create a delicious, high-quality product for people to share with their families and loved ones,” said Julie Martin, Martin’s Social Media Manager and Third Generation Martin Family Member. “We’re honored that so many talented people have come alongside our family to build this company over the years, and we’re excited to continue our growth right here in Pennsylvania (and in our bakery in Georgia as well). Having people in public service, like Treasurer Garrity, visit us to learn how we operate and how governmental issues affect us, our ability to grow, to create new jobs, and to supply our customers, is invaluable. We really appreciate her taking the time to listen and discuss our opportunities and challenges and the overall importance of manufacturing in PA.”
