JIM THORPE, PA — Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, representing Carbon County as part of Pennsylvania’s 7th congressional district, is monitoring developments relating to the Bear Mountain wildfire.
“Our prayers are with the hundreds of firefighters and first responders who are currently battling the Bear Mountain wildfire as well as anyone who may be impacted by this event,” said Congressman Mackenzie. “My office is in contact with local officials and fire chiefs, and we are grateful for their tireless efforts as they work to contain the fire. We are also grateful to the people of Carbon County for their generous outpouring of support for firefighters. At this time, local officials are requesting that only non-perishable items be donated via the collection site at the Diligent Fire Company in Jim Thorpe.”
The Congressman’s office has also been made aware of a request that no civilian drones be used in the area at this time.
“Firefighters are currently planning a drone operation that requires clear skies. Those in the area are asked to refrain from using personal drones to avoid interfering with critical operations.”
Congressman Mackenzie is planning to visit the impacted area tomorrow to meet with first responders.
