In-Facility Offering is First of its Kind in Allentown, Pa.
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (Oct. 2, 2025) – Riverton Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center has opened its state-of-the-art, in-facility Dialysis Unit, the first of its kind in Allentown. The milestone comes as the center puts the finishing touches on a multi-million-dollar renovation and modernization of the Lehigh County skilled nursing facility.
Riverton’s six-chair Dialysis Unit operates in partnership with Dialyze Direct, one of the nation’s leading providers of home dialysis services in skilled nursing facilities. The new offering complements Riverton’s Chronic Kidney Disease Management Program.
“The team at Riverton is thrilled with the center’s top-to-bottom modernization – it’s gorgeous,” said Danielle Koons, regional vice president of market development, Pennsylvania, for Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports Riverton. “Opening the new Dialysis Unit was a key piece of the vision for this modernization, aimed at augmenting Riverton’s comprehensive suite of next-level skilled nursing care and services. The center is pleased to now offer in-facility dialysis; a much-needed service that was a direct ask from the center’s hospital partners.”
Earlier phases of Riverton’s renovation included a new therapy gym, featuring state-of-the-art equipment and technologies to support the delivery of progressive rehab services. The gym’s spacious activities of daily living (ADL) suite mimics a home environment with a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Renovations also included updated patient rooms and a new lobby.
Additionally, Riverton has continued to introduce new physician-led specialty care programming, including a subacute Stroke Recovery Program. In tandem, the center became the first in Pennsylvania – and one of the first in the nation – to earn the Skilled Nursing Facility Stroke Rehabilitation Certification offered by the American Heart Association® , the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all.
Located at 803 N. Wahneta Street in Allentown, Riverton offers post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care; its reputation for quality care and services is well established. The Lehigh County facility maintains a Five-Star Overall rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and has earned the prestigious Nursing Care Center Accreditation from The Joint Commission. Riverton Rehab & Healthcare Center is part of Riverton Enhanced Senior Living, a continuing care retirement community also offering personal care services and independent living apartments.
