Bethlehem, Pa. — March 7, 2017 Time is running out to get your tickets to the PBS39 Soul & Doo Wop Spectacular, taking place Sunday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center.

Due to strong demand, PBS39 has made additional ticket levels available to the general public at the PBS39 Box Office. VIP and Premium level tickets have already sold out, and all other levels — including Select, Standard, and Rear — are going fast.
The concert promises to be an unforgettable trip down memory lane, as three of the era’s prominent groups perform hits spanning the 50’s and 60’s. The performers include:

Little Anthony & The Imperials
For nearly 60 years, Little Anthony & The Imperials have been entertaining audiences with their vintage soul and doo wop stylings. Fronted by Jerome Anthony Gourdine, best known as “Little Anthony,” the group’s hits include classics, “Tears on My Pillow,” “Shimmy, Shimmy, Ko-Ko-Bop,” and “Goin’ Out of My Head.” Little Anthony & The Imperials were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on April 4, 2009, after 23 years of eligibility.

The Impressions
The Impressions were formed in Chicago in 1957 as a doo wop group called The Roosters. Changed to The Impressions by their manager in 1958, the group launched the career of soul legends Jerry Butler and Curtis Mayfield, also featuring vocalists Sam Gooden, and brothers Richard and Arthur Brooks. Together, The Impressions scored many major hits throughout the 1950s and 60s, including the smash R&B tunes “For Your Precious Love,” “He Will Break Your Heart,” “Gypsy Woman,” and “It’s All Right.”

The Crests, featuring Tommy Mara
Formed in New York City in 1956, The Crests were discovered by Al Browne and went on to become one of the most successful of the ‘integrated’ doo-wop groups of the period. Headed by the lead tenor of Johnny Maestro (born John Mastrangelo in 1930), the band also included Harold Torres, Talmadge “Tommy” Gough, J.T. Carter, and Patricia Van Dross. In 1957, they achieved their first minor pop hit with “Sweetest One” before releasing one of doo-wop’s enduring classics, the heartfelt ballad “16 Candles,” in 1959.

Since the late 1990s, singer Tommy Mara (real name Thomas Marasciullo) has owned the trademark to The Crests’ name. Performing as The Crests, featuring Tommy Mara, the group still tours to this day.
