The Hillside School Appoints Director of Development



 

The Hillside School has announced the appointment of Stacy K. Shillinger as its new Director of Development.

In her new position, Shillinger will develop and implement alumni relations and fundraising programs for the school, including leadership giving, grant writing, and corporate support.  Additionally, she will lead planning efforts for the school’s two annual signature scholarship fundraising events, The Hillside School Dinner Dance and the Golf Classic.

Shillinger joins The Hillside School from Lehigh University, where she most recently served as Senior Director of University and Advancement Events.  Shillinger has more than 20 years of fundraising and donor relations experience, working at both Lehigh University and WLVT PBS39. She joins the Hillside faculty and staff with a strong belief in and passion for the Hillside mission to maximize the potential of children with learning disabilities through excellence in education.

Located in Macungie, PA, The Hillside School is an independent K-8 school for students with language-based learning disabilities that serves children from 9 counties and 22 school districts. The Hillside School is accredited through the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools.

About

The Hillside School is an independent school for students in kindergarten through 8th grade with language-based learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia, as well as other disabilities that affect learning, i.e. auditory and visual processing disorders, working memory deficits, ADHD, sensory processing disorders.  They provide explicit multi-sensory and differentiated instruction embedded with strategies that allow students to experience success.  Through integrated academic experiences that focus on individual strengths, students acquire an understanding of learning as a process and utilize assistive technology to help surmount areas of weakness and to augment the curriculum.  The nurturing environment of The Hillside School fosters self-awareness, builds self-esteem and promotes self-advocacy skills for use beyond their walls. http://www.hillsideschool.org/
