Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center To Launch LGBT Youth Art Gallery

ALLENTOWN, PA — Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center is converting space adjacent to their youth lounge into art gallery space to provide opportunities for LGBT youth to exhibit their art. This project was made possible by Crayola, who also provided funds for art supplies for Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center’s youth program, Project SILK Lehigh Valley.

The youth art gallery will encourage positive youth development through artistic forms of self-expressions and will help build confidence for LGBT youth by displaying their works of art in a public space.

“The benefits of providing youth from historically marginalized communities with safe outlets for self-expression is innumerable. We are grateful to Crayola for supporting such an exciting project for LGBT youth in our community” said Adrian Shanker, Executive Director of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center.

Exhibits in the LGBT Youth Art Gallery will be managed by Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center’s Youth Programs Manager Kim Ketterer. “The youth program participants that come to our center each week have demonstrated their interest in the arts. We’ve been listening to them closely, and we are excited to support their creativity by providing space for them to exhibit their works of art.”
