T-TOWN ELITE, MALOJA PUSHBIKERS FORM PARTNERSHIP
TREXLERTOWN, Pa. – T-Town Elite, the premier youth cycling team, has formed a bilateral partnership with the well-known, prestigious Maloja Pushbikers. The partnership was announced by Marty Nothstein, the executive director of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center late Thursday morning.
“Our focus with the Junior Performance Academy has always been to provide the best guidance for riders and parents,” Nothstein said. “This partnership helps us share resources and knowledge with one of the best teams in the world. There is not a program like this offered anywhere else in the U.S.”
The exclusive partnership between T-Town Elite and the German-based Pushbikers squad is wide-ranging. The benefits of the partnership will include discounts on clothing, and equipment, among other amenities. Also, while Pushbiker riders are in T-Town, they will exclusively provide coaching and mentorship to T-Town Elite riders. Additionally, there are opportunities for T-Town Elite riders to train and race internationally with the Pushbikers team in Europe.
T-Town Elite is the only team the Pushbikers have this type of partnership with.
“We are looking back at a very successful relationship with the venue in Trexlertown that goes back to the year 2012 already,” personnel manager of the Maloja Pushbikers, Hannes Baumgarten said. “As our focus lays on Elite racing worldwide on the one hand, but on sustainable, local education and training of young talents on the other, an official partnership appeared to be the perfect step to bring forward both parties alike.”
Among other changes to the program is the re-emergence of Nothstein as the leader of the Junior Performance Academy, which is the training program behind the T-Town Elite team. Nothstein was instrumental in the creation and initial building of the program, but is now stepping back into a more hands-on and leadership position to help guide the program into its next phase.
Also, several other coaches have joined the team in this transition process. Becky Quinn, an eight-time national champion, and five-time Track World Cup medalist as well as Andrew Freye who is a USA Cycling mountain bike national champion are joining the coaching unit. Quinn is set to focus on fitness riding while Freye will work on cyclocross.
