The Fences Project: An Urban Gallery Meet the Artist Celebration Set for June 21st



 

Allentown, PA – June 20, 2018 – The Cultural Coalition of Allentown, City Center Allentown and Allentown Arts Commission are pleased to announce the artists selected in “The Fences Project: An Urban Gallery,” the first in a continuing series of programs to shine the spotlight on Allentown’s most talented, creative and dynamic artists in a variety of genres. 

This year’s project continues the theme of “Art Around Every Corner” and will feature the selected artist’s work displayed in the Hamilton District on construction fences between Ninth and Tenth Streets on Hamilton Street. 

The Artists selected and their works were:

·  Nina Boodhansingh – The Clearing

·  Rosemary Geseck – Pretty Birds Allentown

·  Matt Halm – Struggle in Boxes

·  Femi J. Johnson – West Street

·  Tara Santoro – The Moments That Matter

·  Anthony Smith – The Hotness in Concert No. 1

·  Charles Stonewall – The Confidence to Soar

Deborah Rabinsky, Artistic Operations Director for the Cultural Coalition of Allentown and member of the Allentown Arts Commission said of the project, “We are thankful to all of the artists who submitted their work. In total, the artist call resulted in 71 entries. An outstanding number that shows the vibrancy and vitality of the arts scene here in Allentown.” 

To celebrate the installation of “The Fences Project: An Urban Gallery” a special press event and Meet the Artists gathering is scheduled for part of the June 21 Third Thursday Celebration at 4:30PM on Hamilton Street between 9th and 10th Streets, followed by an informal reception beginning at 5PM at The Dime in the Renaissance Hotel.
