PA’s Largest Latino Organization to Launch Huge Final Push to Get Out the Vote Before Crucial Midterm Elections

Make the Road Action in PA announces culmination of largest GOTV field program in PA, through which its teams will knock on more than 200,000 doors

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30 2018 — Make the Road Action in PA (MRAPA), the largest Latino organization in Pennsylvania, will hold a press conference on Friday to launch its final Get Out the Vote (GOTV) push before the crucial midterm elections. In the run-up to Tuesday, November 6th, MRAPA members will knock on more than 200,000 doors (they have already knocked more than 100,000), with a message to voters about the importance of stopping Trump’s attacks on immigrant communities and communities of color and standing up to keep families together, guarantee workers’ rights, and protect and expand access to health care.

On Friday, MRAPA members will hit the streets to remind voters to go to the polls on Tuesday and cast their ballots for Governor Tom Wolf, whose re-election is crucial for the well-being of Latino communities. MRAPA has the largest GOTV program in the state and will continue to rally voters until election day. The organization is knocking on doors in Berks County, Lehigh County, Luzerne County, Lackawanna County, Monroe County, Northampton County, and Philadelphia.

Tonya Morrow, MRAPA member and registered voter in Allentown, said, “I can’t wait to make my voice heard at the polls on Tuesday. After two years attacks on our families and our health care from Donald Trump and those standing with him in the Republican Party, it’s more important than ever that we stand together as a community for candidates who actually share our values–and who value us. That starts with re-electing Governor Wolf, and it continues with removing Republicans in Congress who have chosen to attack us rather than listening to us.”

Adanjesus Marin, Director of Make the Road Action in PA:

“Our members are fired up about this election, because Latinos and working class Pennsylvanians know that so much is at stake. Our community forcefully rejects Scott Wagner’s campaign of hate and threats of violence. Our members decided that we must be all in to defeat Wagner and re-elect Governor Wolf, who has stood with us. We are talking to hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians at their doors through Election Day, and we are hearing every day that voters in our communities are with us. We are confident that our voter turnout operation will have a significant impact on the results up and down the ballot.”
