7th Annual Muslim Fun Day – Saturday, June 8, 2019



 

The Muslim communities in Lehigh Valley and around the globe will be getting ready to celebrate the end of the month-long fast on Tuesday June 4th, with the sighting of the new crescent on the horizon heralding new month of Shawwal. The end of Ramadan marks the beginning of a week celebration known as “Eid al Fitr”.

Leigh Valley’s largest Eid celebration will be returning to Cover Bridge Park on Wehmir Road in South Whitehall on June 8th the organizers have announced. An estimated two thousand five hundred people are expected to take part in the day’s festivities. Muslims from Philadelphia, Poconos and Tri-State area will be joining.

 Now in its seventh year, the festival has grown in numbers since its inception with an emphasis on community and family.Eid al-Fitr is an important religious holiday which concludes the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Festival-goers will be able to take part in family activities including Dunk Tank, 18 different kinds of rides, Pony rides, food stalls, sporting event such as soccer, basketball, cricket, flag football and much more. This event will be buzzing with stalls showcasing an array of products and services for all the family. There’s something to do for everyone! Even the seniors will join in games such as putter ball, Perfect Pitcher Washer and Lawn Bowling.

Team organizer said “Celebrating Eid has always been open to the entire community and we welcome people of all faiths to join. As our numbers grow, so does our commitment to our community and our passion for peace and inclusion.”

This event is an important event for everybody. It’s to celebrate the end of Ramadan and to show unity between the communities and the coming together of different nationalities and races. It doesn’t matter what nationality or race you are; this is a celebration to come together and celebrate the day of Eid.

Such event develops friendships, bonds and stop the misconceptions about Islam. We need to build bridges between all faiths. Lehigh Muslim Fun Day embodies our three objectives: promoting Muslim unity, educating society about Islam and being active in community service.  We put together an exciting day of activities to instill the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood to bring the community together.

The months of preparations and planning have passed, we are looking forward to welcoming each and every one of you to enjoy and have fun. We would like to wish all the team a success and the event will be a spectacular, exhilarating and memorable.
