Elton John, Woodstock and Jimi Hendrix Movies Highlight Rock Films Coming to SteelStacks This Summer

BETHLEHEM, PA —The Elton John biopic “Rocketman,” “Jimi Hendrix: Electric Church” and “Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace & Music” are among the many rock films and documentaries being shown at the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas of the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks this summer.

“Rocketman,” the epic musical fantasy starring actor Taron Egerton as iconic singer and composer Elton John, and directed by Dexter Fletcher (co-director of “Bohemian Rhapsody”), opens May 30, 9:45 p.m. with a sneak preview screening. Tickets for the film, which kicks off its full run May 31, are $7.50-$10.

To kick off ArtsQuest’s “Peace, Love & Rock ‘N’ Roll” weekend celebration of Woodstock’s 50th anniversary, the film “Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace & Music” opens Aug. 12, 1:30 p.m. Tickets for the screenings are $9.50-$12. As part of “Peace, Love & Rock ‘N’ Roll,” free concerts will also be held at Levitt Pavilion Aug. 16-18.  Jefferson Airplane tribute Reverend Jefferson, Craig Thatcher presenting The Music of Jimi Hendrix and Experience Janis, a heartfelt Janis Joplin tribute, are among the performers taking the stage. “Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese,” which opens June 11, 7:30 p.m., is a one-of-a-kind experience. Created by master filmmaker Martin Scorsese, the film brings to life the story of the troubled spirit of America in 1975, and the joyous music that Bob Dylan brought to the stage during the fall of that year. Tickets for the show are $9.50-$12.
