ALLENTOWN UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB, Allentown is in search of an Athletic Trainer Intern for their inaugural season in the United Premier Soccer League, a semi-pro soccer league. The intern will assist in looking after the physical fitness of the squad during match days from 8/25 through 11/23. CENTER FOR VISION LOSS, Allentown is seeking volunteers to work with staff to administer vision-screening tests for preschool and kindergarten age children in Lehigh or Northampton County.   Reliable transportation to screening sites is necessary. GIRL SCOUTS OF EASTERN PA, Allentown needs volunteers for Administrative and Community Development in Coopersburg. Guides/leaders are always needed, but today, you may volunteer to support the adults and the community in supporting girls. LEHIGH COUNTY COURT-APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES, Allentown is seeking dedicated volunteers to be court appointed advocates for children in foster care due to abuse, neglect and/or trauma. These volunteers will be the “eyes and ears” of the Judge and advocate for the best interests of the child in court, visit the child at home/placement, monitor how the child is doing in school, observe parental visitations, and be in regular contact with the child. LEHIGH VALLEY HEALTH NETWORK, MARATHON FOR VIA, Lehigh Valley is seeking volunteers for their annual marathon on Saturday, 9/7 (9am-5pm) and Sunday, 9/8 (5:30am-1:30pm). The Marathon starts in Allentown, goes through Bethlehem, and ends in Easton.  Volunteers help with registration, pack pick-up, hand out water to runners, and course marshal spots (cheering on runners) along the route. SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK, Allentown needs ten volunteers for their Great Allentown Fair’s “Buck and a Can Night” on Tuesday, 8/27 – 2 shifts (4-6:30pm and 6:30-9pm); 2 volunteers per gate for a total of 5 gates. First shift should report at Main Gate between 3:30-3:45 to check in; 2nd shift report to assigned gates. Volunteers receive free admission pass for any night of the Fair and a parking pass for the hospital deck to be used on the 27th. Contact Dannah Hartman, dhartman@caclv.org.

 

STRIVE YOUTH, Bethlehem needs dedicated coaches to help 8-12th grade students for STRIVE’s STEM Leadership Program. Help students to set goals for the future and to measure their progress towards achieving these goals. Each coach will be paired with 1-3 students. THE SALVATION ARMY CHILDREN’S SERVICES, Allentown needs volunteers to join their qualified child care team to help with the children while their foster/adoptive parents attend trainings on weeknights and weekends. Whether you can commit to a single 2-hour session every other month or are willing to help with multiple dates each month, your help is needed. Standard child care clearances are required.
