BETHLEHEM, PA—Even though everyone can’t get together in person for Musikfest this year, festival presenter ArtsQuest is inviting the community to be part of the 2020 event in a very creative way – the “See You Soon” postcard public art project.
Individuals can download an official Musikfest 2020 postcard template on the Banana Factory website or create their own postcard using paper, cardstock or cardboard as long as it fits standard postcard dimensions of 3.5”x5” or 6”x9”. Participants can even submit an altered vintage/found postcard of their choice.
Participants are asked to create their own ‘masterpiece’ on the postcards for an exhibit to be shown digitally and placed on display in the Banana Factory windows during Musikfest July 31-Aug. 9. Individuals are encouraged to focus their artwork around Musikfest and the places, people and events that make the Lehigh Valley special; messages written on the back of the postcards are also encouraged but not required.
All submissions must either be postmarked by July 27 or dropped off at the Banana Factory Arts Center, 25 W. Third St., on one of the dates and times listed below:
July 20 and 21, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
July 24 and 25, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Individuals who drop off their artwork must call 610-332-1327 when they arrive and an ArtsQuest staff person will meet them at the front doors of the Banana Factory.
Once received, postcards will be scanned and digitized for an online exhibition to open July 31, as well as displayed in the Crayola Gallery windows on Third Street July 31-Aug. 9. Participants will be able to pick up their postcards from the Banana Factory after Aug. 14if they so choose. More information on postcard pickup will be provided when the exhibit closes.
July 20-21 and 24-25: Drop-off postcards at Banana Factory Arts Center
July 27: Mail-in artworks must be postmarked by this date
July 31–August 9: Exhibition displayed in Gallery windows for Musikfest 2020
Musikfest 2020 will take place July 31-Aug. 9. This year’s festival will include 40 concerts shown via Musikfest.org as part of Virtual Musikfest, 40 performances by bands performing live from the Service Electric TV studios (and re-aired on Musikfest.org) and an on-site food and beverage experience at SteelStacks that will include at least 10 Musikfest favorite food vendors. Additional details on the festival, including possible additional in-person events and concerts at SteelStacks, will be announced throughout the summer.
