Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts offers Summer Opera Workshop for Teens!

BETHLEHEM, PA (July 2017)— Opera and classical music are more popular than ever with children and teens. From acts like Jackie Evancho and the Italian teen pop opera trio, Il Volo, classical voice is making an impact on all ages. The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts’ Opera & Classical Voice Summer Workshop may not seem like the typical summer camp fare, but it is growing more popular every year.  Workshop instructor, David Macbeth, who is also the Artistic Director for Vocal Music at the school, knows the impact that operatic literature and performance has on the teen performer.  His award-winning Charter Arts Touring Choir has performed on stage with a variety of major acts including: the pop group, Paramore, the legendary rock group, Foreigner, and the Canadian opera group, The Tenors.

The Opera & Classical Voice Workshop runs July 17-21 from 9:30am-12pm daily and is ideal for teens entering 9th-12th grade who have a developed voice.  A younger participant may be considered on an individual basis.  The workshop is part of the school’s Summer Academy, a program of arts enrichment workshops that are open to the community.  A participant does not have to be a student at the school to attend.

The fee for the workshop is $175 for the week. For more information call 610-868-2971 ext. 3185 or visit www.CharterArts.org.  The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts is located at 321 East 3rd Street in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
